WAGS is a group of contemporary women artists based in Medway Kent. The group encourages individual work and a supportive environment for challenging and innovative projects from a woman’s perspective.
Membership changes with time and project, but averages ten to twelve artists with a diverse range of viewpoints, abilities, artistic skills and methods, from the traditional crafts to the new media that have been employed in a refreshing range of projects.
Formed nearly twenty years ago after evolving from an access course started by the well known artist and educator Nicholette Goff, Women Artists at Green Street became known as WAGS long before footballers wives were ever heard of.
The self sustaining professionally run creative group still meets weekly at Green Street. Discussions, gallery visits and new skill workshops are an integral part of the programme. There is inclusive ethos and new members are welcome.
